Jo Morris – Ghost Queen

Jo Morris is a singer-songwriter living in New Orleans whose haunting voice and tremolo-laden guitar playing conjure an eerie feeling of stillness and stir emotional waters with depth and sincerity. Her lyrics are steeped in poetic romance but cloaked with a subtle darkness, like an apocalyptic Tin Pan Alley. Listening to her sing is like sitting alone an the shores of Louisiana, surrounded by dying candles and watching a storm approach while you think of your lost lovers. There is peace in the deadly longing that you can’t help but want to hold on to. In much the same way, when the last notes of her songs die in their echo, you will find yourself wishing that the music would go on.

Ghost Queen is Jo’s debut EP as a solo artist and was produced by Kristo Baricevic. It features Kristo’s band, the Strange Places, on accompaniment, who provide a backdrop of psychedelic soul and rock that add layers of color and excitement to Jo’s songs.
